Had to share.

I know that my lat post was praising Wes Anderson and his new movie.  But I still do think that everyone would like to see him make a movie that was not so distinctly his.  This hilarious bit from SNL shows all too well that he has hit a point where it is just too obvious that Wes Anderson is being Wes Anderson to the point that SNL writers can copy his usual style and humor almost down to a T.

While I still like Wes Anderson.  I have to admit this fake trailer points out some all too real problems.

Wes.

The Grand Budapest Hotel!

Today the trailer for Wes Anderson's next film was released.  I have to admit that, while I used to claim that I loved ALL Wes Anderson's movies, I have decided that they are more hit or miss for me.  For the sake of time I will simply state that the only movies of his that I can say I TRULY love are: The Darjeeling Limited (2007) and Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009).  The rest of his films I can say, easily and without regret, that I like them but definitely don't love them.

Last year when Moonrise Kingdom (2012) was released I was feeling a little weary of Anderson and his trademark style.  Kingdom offered imagery that was so clean cut and so exactly put together that at times it felt like a children's storybook, a handful of jokes that simply fell flat, and a youngster-love-scene that seemed a bit too awkward for its own good.  My response to the film was that I felt that Wes Anderson was a great filmmaker but I wanted to see something great from him that didn't feel so distinctly Andersonian; which I felt that he was quite capable of.

But now this.  I know it is just a trailer, and it still feels a little Andersonian, but wow!  We are seeing some new and exciting faces added to the usual Wes Anderson cast, and the humor looks a little more straightforward than Anderson's usual use of straight faced buffoonery.  This trailer really excites me and gives me hope that Anderson will be giving us something that does not feel like a run of the mil Wes Anderson film.... Which I feel is the corner he often paints himself into.  While this still looks distinctly Andersonian, I feel that it could be a big push towards Anderson proving that he is not a two or even three trick pony.

One More Time Now.

Okay.  I think I might try this again.  I love movies and I like the idea of writing about them... Even if it is on a blog that nobody really reads.  I tried this blog thing a few years back and in about two months I grew bored of it, or too busy, or too something.  My ability to regularly watch new release movies has changed over the past two years because marriage and school take up a lot of time and money.  Because of my financial and life situation this will simply be a poor mans movie blog because, due to lack of funds I hardly see anything in the movie theater anymore, and I see a lot of stuff from the wonder that is Redbox.  Initially when I tried a movie blog I wanted to write about new films that were only just released.  Now I realize that if I am gonna write a movie blog that, a minimal amount of people are reading that, I might as well write about whatever I see film-wise:  exciting news, movie trailers, old movies, new movies, Redbox rentals, Amazon Prime, whatever.  I can write about whatever I want.

So here it is.  My second try at a movie related blog.

Enjoy.
